"I've never had an experience like this before. I'm leaving with a greater understanding of international affairs, and friends that I share amazing memories with. I'm now ready to apply everything I've learned, and make a real difference in the world."

The Mission of Global Scholar
Americans for Informed Democracy, a non-profit leader in global education, has designed Global Scholar to prepare outstanding high school students for college and the world beyond. The program builds on a shared sense among university leaders, policymakers, scientists, and business executives that young Americans need global competence to excel in their collegiate studies and their professional careers.
College provides a special opportunity for students to think profoundly and critically about the challenges facing today's world. It is also a time of great personal growth; students make decisions about their majors, their careers, and their futures. The Global Scholar program recognizes that preparing for college - and getting into the right one - is critical to ensuring students make the most out of their college experience. Global Scholar gives students a head start in preparing for college through challenging coursework, strategic workshops and an on-campus experience at Washington and Lee.
